\u201cOur only solution will be regulation, and that regulation will be foisted on us by a government desperate to \u201cdo something\u201d in the face of disaster.\u00a0In this article I want to outline the problems, both technical and political, and point to some regulatory solutions. Regulation might be a dirty word in today\u2019s political climate, but security is the exception to our small-government bias. And as the threats posed by computers become greater and more catastrophic, regulation will be inevitable. So now\u2019s the time to start thinking about it.\u00a0We also need to reverse the trend to connect everything to the internet.<\/strong> And if we risk harm and even death, we need to think twice about what we connect and what we deliberately leave uncomputerized.\u00a0If we get this wrong, the computer industry will look like the pharmaceutical industry, or the aircraft industry. But if we get this right, we can maintain the innovative environment of the internet that has given us so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

En este art\u00edculo quiero esbozar los problemas, tanto t\u00e9cnicos como pol\u00edticos, y apuntar algunas soluciones normativas. La regulaci\u00f3n puede ser una palabra sucia en el clima pol\u00edtico actual, pero la seguridad es la excepci\u00f3n a nuestra tendencia a un gobierno peque\u00f1o. Y a medida que las amenazas que plantean los ordenadores sean mayores y m\u00e1s catastr\u00f3ficas, la regulaci\u00f3n ser\u00e1 inevitable. As\u00ed que ahora es el momento de empezar a pensar en ello.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n tenemos que invertir la tendencia a conectarlo todo a Internet. Y si nos arriesgamos a sufrir da\u00f1os e incluso a morir, tenemos que pensar dos veces qu\u00e9 conectamos y qu\u00e9 dejamos deliberadamente sin informatizar.<\/p>\n

Si lo hacemos mal, la industria inform\u00e1tica se parecer\u00e1 a la farmac\u00e9utica o a la aeron\u00e1utica. Pero si lo hacemos bien, podremos mantener el entorno innovador de Internet que tanto nos ha dado\".<\/p>\n
