{"id":52220,"date":"2013-09-04T08:49:58","date_gmt":"2013-09-04T08:49:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gerdtestpress.online\/?p=52220"},"modified":"2013-09-04T08:49:58","modified_gmt":"2013-09-04T08:49:58","slug":"i-am-in-the-process-of-data-myning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/futuristgerd.com\/es\/2013\/09\/i-am-in-the-process-of-data-myning\/","title":{"rendered":"Estoy en proceso de Data-MYning :)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just found this really interesting meme via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trendwatching.com\/trends\/10trends2013\/?datamyning\" target=\"_blank\">trendwatching.com<\/a> (see some of their slides below, the whole thing is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/trendwatching_com\/trendwatchingcoms-10-crucial-consumer-trends-for-2013?from_search=1\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, and below) and thought I would share this with you. It is a very timely meme as I am in the process of <strong>setting up my own cloud<\/strong> (using the pretty amazing <a href=\"https:\/\/owncloud.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">owncloud.org<\/a>) here in Switzerland because I (and my company, The Futures Agency) intend become significantly more independent of the usual &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2013\/mar\/03\/who-owns-future-jaron-lanier-review\" target=\"_blank\">siren servers' (thanks to Jaron Lanier<\/a> for that sticky bonmot) and mostly U.S.-based cloud-providers, and less subject to their whims and often quite bizarre legal context. After Skype threw me out and blocked my fully-loaded premium account forever &#8211; because I logged in from Saudi-Arabia with the wrong password, <em>once<\/em> &#8211; with any recourse whatsoever, 3 months ago, I decided that I need to be fully in charge of my own mission-critical data such as emails and file-hosting, docs and online collaboration. Add to that the significant threat of essentially zero privacy and personal protection if you are hosting your stuff in the U.S. (read my PRISM \/ NSA pieces <a href=\"https:\/\/futuristgerd.com\/2013\/06\/27\/the-coming-data-wars-the-threat-of-digital-totalitarism-and-why-internet-users-need-to-take-a-stand-now\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/futuristgerd.com\/2013\/07\/06\/an-ultimatum-for-america-or-we-love-you-guys-but-enough-is-enough\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), and it's pretty clear that if you care about what happens to your data you must make a move now.
