A reecent realization. Take note, fellow futurists.

Forecasting used to be a human craft – Now, driven by AI, it’s becoming a utility.

AI models will increasingly predict markets, weather, disease spread, consumer behavior, elections. Prediction becomes embedded in everything: logistics, finance, hiring, policing, governance. And when prediction is automated, it fades into the background — like electricity (no applause, just dependency;)

Scarcity shifts from data to meaning (and narratives become our new focus (again))

If machines can forecast faster and better than humans, then raw foresight loses its mystique. What becomes scarce is: Interpretation, Framing, Story, Moral positioning… THE NARRATIVE. Which predictions get amplified? Which risks are emphasized? Which futures are framed as inevitable? WHAT DO WE REALLY WANT?

Prediction says: “Here is what is likely.” Narrative says: “Here is what it means”
