At a recent San Francisco event hosted by the LongNow Foundation (see embed below) I was re-introduced to Stephen Heintz's work. He recently released a very powerful manifesto “A Logic for the Future” (free download) which is very much aligned with my own work on The Good Future and the 4Ps (people planet purpose and prosperity).
Note: The summary below was generated with the help of Google NotebookLM, an amazing research tool that I've been using for a while now.
“Stephen Heintz's paper, “A Logic for the Future: International Relations in the Age of Turbulence”, published by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, examines the shortcomings of the current global order in addressing contemporary challenges. It argues that outdated principles are insufficient for navigating today's complex and turbulent world. The paper proposes a revised “logic for the future” with ten key building blocks aimed at fostering a more equitable, sustainable, and peaceful international system. These include collaborative sovereignty, a diverse ecosystem of global institutions, an equitable distribution of power, and a transformed role for the United States in global leadership. Heintz advocates for innovative strategies and reforms of existing institutions, like the United Nations, alongside the development of new mechanisms to tackle transnational issues. The work calls for a fundamental shift in thinking and action to avoid global catastrophe and build a more resilient future. Endorsements from global figures highlight the paper's clarity in diagnosing the crisis and offering visionary yet practical suggestions for a better global order...”
My team created a few graphics based on the paper, see below:
